The Boca Raton Airport Authority Completes New Administration Building Designed and Built to Meet LEED Standards BOCA RATON, FL – December 1, 2015 – On October 30, the Boca Raton Airport Authority (BRAA) moved into its new 9,270 sq. ft. Administration Building, located at 903 NW 35th Street in Boca Raton. The $2.4M building is situated on 1.79 acres east of the runway in the FAU Research Park and features offices, meeting spaces and a three-bay, 2,500 sq. ft. equipment storage area. The BRAA was able to leverage its own capital dollars with 80% state aviation grants to complete the project. Previously, the BRAA leased both office and hangar spaces at separate locations. The new, permanent home consolidates both into one space, thereby enhancing cost-savings and increasing productivity. “The new building allows BRAA to merge airport administration and operations into one permanent location,” said Clara Bennett, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Airport Authority. “This saves costs on office and hangar rental space while reducing the carbon footprint in our community with a facility built to the highest environmental standards.” The building has been constructed to achieve a LEED Silver Certification. LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building certification program of the U.S. Green Building Council that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification. MBR Construction of Fort Lauderdale built the structure, Shenkle-Schultz of West Palm Beach designed the project, and Ricondo and Associates of Miami served as the aviation consultants.
