FAU’s CCEW To Host Business Writing Roundtable BOCA RATON, FLA. Feb. 22, 2019---Florida Atlantic University’s Community Center for Excellence in Writing (CCEW) will conduct a roundtable discussion offering strategies to improve workplace writing and how stronger writing can improve any business' reputation, branding, staff development, and customer, and employee relations. This event is co-sponsored by the CCEW, the Palm Beach Post and the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. “Deficient business writing is one of the most overlooked problems many businesses face; yet it can be corrected easily,” according to Jeff Galin, Director of the CCEW. “Bad writing and inaccurate messages or instructions cause costly, but preventable, mistakes. Josh Bernoff recently wrote a piece for The Daily Beast stating that “bad writing is costing American businesses close to $400 billion every year.” To help businesses improve their written communications, the CCEW will conduct a breakfast roundtable discussion from 8:30 am to 10:00 on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the FAU Boca Raton campus. The roundtable will be held in the CCEW offices, GS Building 2, Room 215, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, Fla. 33431-0991. Speakers include representatives from the Palm Beach Post; the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County; FAU’s Small Business Development Center; a former FAU professor of business writing, a small business owner; and the Director of FAU’s UCEW/CCEW. Participants can also attend via Skype at https://join.skype.com/EBRB1vtmAC2V. The normal cost for this roundtable is $150 per person; however, full scholarships are available for the first 40 registrants, thanks to sponsorship of the Community Center for Excellence in Writing.
