Small Business Enterprises learn how to strengthen partnerships and grow their businesses DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (July 19, 2018) – Kaufman Lynn Construction (KL), one of South Florida’s most recognized names in commercial construction, developed a Professional Workshop Series in conjunction with the School District of Palm Beach County’s Office of Diversity in Business Practices. The series of eight classes, in construction and allied fields, were designed for small businesses and minority and women-owned enterprises. “The goal of our joint Professional Workshop Series is to impart information about tools and processes that will improve the South Florida small business enterprise model,” said Chief Executive Officer Michael “Mike” Kaufman. “The classes also enhance the participants’ ability to look at more than just their business operations, but also help them focus on differentiating their capabilities and developing relationships.” The workshop was led by members from KL and its small business partner, Pioneer Construction Management Services. Company professionals served as instructors covering topics such as project management, marketing strategy, bonding and insurance, contract administration, certification, accounting, job planning and safety. “Kaufman Lynn Construction is just not a prime vendor for the District but a good community steward; they understand it is to everyone’s best interest to educate, train and support Palm Beach County’s Small Business Community,” said Dicky Sykes, Director of Diversity in Business Practices for the School District of Palm Beach County. “They are showing a willingness to work with SBEs, M/WBEs and local vendors to help them better position themselves strategically to sell their goods and services.” In its inaugural series, which began in May and concluded in mid-July, participants averaged over 25 students/firms per class in fields such as engineering, commercial cleaning, design, electric, marketing, audio-visual, filing and storage and materials management, among other contracting specializations. “Since we started in May, two Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) have been pre-approved for their first bond ever in the amount of $400,000,” said Sykes, “we anticipate many more approvals in the weeks ahead.” To learn more about the School District’s SBE programs please visit: https://www.palmbeachschools.org/diversityinbusiness/ For more information on Kaufman Lynn, please visit www.kaufmanlynn.com About Kaufman Lynn Construction Established in 1989, Kaufman Lynn Construction (KL), headquartered in Delray Beach, Fla., has approximately 150 employees in Florida, Texas and North Carolina.
