The Butterfly Effect
A family legacy lives on at Boynton Beach's new senior living community

Boynton Beach, FL – A tribute to owner Oliver VonTroll’s late grandmother, The Club at Boynton Beach is a new Assisted Living and Memory Care community coming to Boynton Beach this spring. VonTroll took on this personal project after his family struggled to find a senior care community in the US or Peru that met his grandmother's need for whole-person wellness.

The Search for New Beginnings in the US
Oliver VonTroll’s family arrived in the United States when he was just a boy. Some of his most cherished childhood memories center on the times when his grandmother, Carmen Chocano, traveled from Peru to visit his family. He described her as the rock of the family, a joyous caretaker with a vibrant personality.

Between the cost of care, the amount of medical attention required and the types of treatments needed, finding the perfect community for Chocano in the US was challenging. The family eventually settled on a community in Peru but remained dissatisfied with the care.

Vision Becomes Reality at The Club
The stress of his grandmother’s final years weighed heavily on VonTroll’s mind. He knew she deserved to age peacefully in a community that truly cared about her wellbeing. He also thought of other families struggling to find quality care for their loved ones. As a result, VonTroll was inspired to create a new type of senior living community where people like his grandmother could find the right treatment and where caretakers are truly committed to enriching the lives of their residents.

In VonTroll’s words, "I wanted to create a place where residents and caretakers alike can breathe a sigh of relief and say, ‘Thank God I found this place!"

Carmen Chocano’s Legacy Lives On at The Club
VonTroll planned every part of his new senior living community with whole-person wellness in mind. From upscale apartments and a welcoming courtyard to chef-inspired dining and healthy smoothie options, The Club at Boynton Beach is focused on sustaining health and happiness in a holistic way.

“My grandmother didn’t have access to these types of things in her community,” VonTroll stated. “I really wanted to create a place that was worthy of her legacy.”

In addition to the thoughtful amenities, VonTroll wanted to keep his grandmother’s spirit alive through one of her favorite things, butterflies, which are universally associated with change, hope and life.

“She loved butterflies,” he said. “The butterflies in Peru are beautiful. They represent a new beginning, and that’s what we offer at The Club.”

He took this theme to heart in the community’s design, commissioning a 22-foot-tall stainless steel butterfly statue in the entrance. Essence, created by Omaha-based artist Matthew Placzek, was designed specifically for The Club. Anchored by a hand-painted base, Essence features natural bronze tones and colorful butterflies, each with hand-etched acrylic panels.

Each apartment type, too, is named for a specific Peruvian butterfly, and the community goes to great length to emphasize beauty, aesthetics and design.

“I want to use this opportunity to do something good for somebody,” VonTroll said. “I couldn’t give back to my grandma in time, so I want to give back to others at The Club.”
