The company also announced the promotions of senior management team members Chris Long, Sam Doggart and Frank White. Douglas Simms brings nearly 30 years of accounting and financial management experience, including 20 years in the construction industry, to his role at Kaufman Lynn Construction. Prior to joining Kaufman Lynn Construction, Simms served as CFO of Golden Sands General Contractors and previously was the CFO of Balfour Beatty Construction’s Florida division. He is responsible for all aspects of the accounting and financial functions of Kaufman Lynn Construction including developing and maintaining effective accounting, financial and treasury systems as well as maintaining the relationships with the accounting firm, law firms, financial institutions, lenders and bonding company. Chris Long was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Long will provide company-wide leadership, strategy and management oversight. He supports the leadership team and all employees to execute and accomplish the goals of the strategic plan, while managing the organization’s overall operational activities. Long joined Kaufman Lynn Construction in January 2013 as Vice President of Operations and has led several projects for key clients, including Florida Atlantic University and Broward College. Prior to Kaufman Lynn Construction, he was Operations Director at Balfour Beatty Construction where he was responsible for project management of all education related projects throughout the Southeast Region of Florida. Sam Doggart was appointed to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Preconstruction. In this new role, he will manage the estimating department and will coordinate closely with the Business Development and Operations teams in the pursuit of new business and preconstruction phases of projects. For the past three years, Doggart has been responsible for all aspects of Kaufman Lynn Construction’s Healthcare Division with particular emphasis on business development, client service, LEED and Lean Processes, and consistent high quality/high accountability field operations. Doggart joined Kaufman Lynn Construction from M.J. Harris, Inc. where he was Vice President of Operations, State of Florida. He previously was a senior vice president at Skanska Building USA, Inc and Vice President of Operations at Walbridge Aldinger. Frank White was promoted to Senior Vice President, Multifamily Development. He will continue providing leadership and guidance of the entire life cycle of all the company’s multifamily projects. White joined Kaufman Lynn Construction as Vice President, Multifamily Development three years ago and has grown the multifamily business segment to $150 million annually.
