Gary W. Kovacs, resident in the firm’s Boca Raton office is a member of our litigation department. Gary maintains a broad litigation practice including probate and trust disputes, guardianship litigation, a wide range of commercial representation including breach of partnership disputes, theft of trade secret claims, and real estate disputes. Gary also practices criminal litigation including corporate investigations and defense. He has served as lead trial counsel for large international organizations and institutions such as Emory University, First American Title Insurance Company, Columbia University, Abbott Laboratories and Penthouse Magazine. Gary carries with him a great deal of jury and non-jury trial experience both in the civil and criminal courts. He was an Assistant State Attorney for the office of the State Attorney in Broward County, Florida where he served as a supervisor and prosecutor for a number of high profile cases. Additionally, Gary served as a lead litigation counsel at the international law firm of Proskauer Rose, LLP, where he practiced for six years. While at Proskauer, Gary served as a mentor for young attorneys and was a member of the Summer Associate Hiring Committee. He joins the firm after having served as a Managing Member of Mattlin & Kovacs, P.L. for the past three years. Throughout his legal career, Gary has been recognized as an outstanding litigator as well as an active participant in community organizations. As a result, Gary received numerous awards including the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County’s Real Property Award (2010), the New York City Pro Bono Center Outstanding Volunteer Award (2010), and the Proskauer Rose Golden Gavel Award for Pro Bono Achievement (2009). Gary currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Boca Raton Little League and as a member of the School Advisory Council for Addison Mizner Elementary School in Boca Raton. He previously served as Co-Chairperson for the School Advisory Council for the BAK Middle School of the Arts in West Palm Beach (2013-2014).
