Sonitrol’s John Ray, III Elected Chairman of Junior Achievement of South Florida Board of Directors FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – John Ray, III, president and CEO of Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale, has been elected chairman of the Junior Achievement of South Florida Board of Directors for a two-year term. The slate of new officers elected and installed recently to guide ongoing growth of the not-for-profit financial education organization also includes Chair-Elect Amy Allen, vice president with Avison Young; Treasurer Michael Woody, senior vice president of BankUnited and Secretary Peter Anderson, a principal with Veritas Wealth Advisors. The organization’s board consists of more than 50 members from prominent area businesses. “As a successful entrepreneur and longtime community leader, John is a great example of Junior Achievement’s values in action,” said Junior Achievement of South Florida CEO Melissa Aiello. “It’s great having John at the helm as we launch a major new initiative this fall to bring financial literacy and entrepreneurship programming to area high schools.” Ray heads electronic security firms Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale and Level 5 Security Group. Active in his industry and the South Florida community, he serves on the Board of Governors of Nova Southeastern University’s Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship and is past president of the Executives’ Association of Fort Lauderdale and the Sonitrol National Dealers Association. He is also a board member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Alumni Association. Ray earned his BA and MBA degrees from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. He is a licensed electrical alarm contractor for the State of Florida and is active in the Alarm Association of Florida, the American Society of Industrial Security and the Florida Crime Prevention Association.
