Born and raised in the French Alps, Stéphane Gattacieca got to learn how to cook from a young age, under the supervision of a father who used to be a professional pastry chef. In 2008, the desire to live and share his passion for food lead Stéphane to put his former job as an investment banker into parentheses to attend advanced cooking classes at the world famous Paul Bocuse Institute in Lyon. A year later, Stéphane, along with his wife Marie and their two sons, took the plunge and crossed the ocean to open a French restaurant in Ocala, north of Orlando, with a friend of his. Upon opening in 2009, Stéphane and his friend’s restaurant got recognized as one the Best Restaurant Newcomers in Florida by the Florida Trend Magazine, then was awarded a Golden Spoon Award, three years in a row in 2011, 2012 and 2013, from the same magazine. “After 5 years in Ocala, my wife and I have decided to leave the green pastures and majestic old live oak trees to bring our American Dream to a new level and embrace the vibrant lifestyle of South Florida!” Chez Marie is a cozy yet trendy bistro-style restaurant serving traditional French cuisine, indoor or outdoor, next to a beautiful fountain. From great classics like Escargots au Beurre d’Ail, Roast Duck or Beef Bourguignon & Crème Brûlée to Slightly Braised Caesar Salad, Seabass & Linguini au Pistou, every dish is prepared in-house from scratch and cooked to order. A wide selection of French and American wines served by the glass or the bottle is sure to complement any meal and delight any palate.
