Kids Win Big Hospice Horizons Fishing Tournament 48.4 lbs Wahoo Wins Grand Prize! West Palm Beach, Florida — The 16th Annual Hospice Horizons Fishing Tournament took place, June 20th at Riviera Beach Marina. Catch One for the Kids caught much more than fish, capturing the attention and charitable hearts of local anglers, individuals and businesses, alike. Hospice used the tournament’s popularity to focus attention on children’s bereavement. Horizons Child Ambassadors, Brian Steigerwald and Abby Gafter were the darlings of the event. Having experienced the loss of a loved one, their personal stories did more to highlight children’s bereavement and Hospice’s dedicated programs, than any adult or professional ever could. Greg Leach, President of Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation and Hospice by the Sea Foundation, stated, “Beyond the great day of fishing, people are really talking about child bereavement and Hospice’s work in the area. That was our goal.” He continued, “Thanks to the hard work of a great many dedicated team members and volunteers, more local families are aware of a critical resource that Hospice provides.” This year’s tournament winners, by category: Grand Prize Angler: Duane Scherz Boat: Double D’s Fish/Weight: Wahoo - 48.4 lbs Kingfish Angler : Joseph Richardson Boat: No Work Today Weight: 39.0 lbs Dolphin Angler : Scott Seaman II Boat: Out Fish All Weight: 38.5 lbs Wahoo Angler: Joshua Rose Boat: Slammin’ Clam Weight: 41.2 lbs Snapper/Grouper Angler: Jeffrey Warshaw Boat: Fraid Knot Weight: 7.2 lbs Mutton Junior Division Angler: Jordan Stump Boat: Gator Bait’r Fish/Weight: Dolphin - 17.3 lbs Ladies Division Angler: Belinda Machiela Boat: Sea Star Fish/ Weight: Kingfish - 21.5 lbs Richard Black Memorial Angler: Mike McCormack, Kimberly Fenn and James Fenn Boat: Controlled Chaos Fishing For My Loved One Angler: Scott Seaman Boat: Out Fish All Fishing In Memory/Honor of: Grandmother- Gloria O’Rourke The tournament continues to expand its persona as a serious angler’s, must-fish tournament.
