LONG-TERM SUPPORTIVE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPENS IN LAKE WORTH Lake Worth, Fla. – Gulfstream Goodwill Industries opened a 17-unit residential facility in historic downtown Lake Worth on Friday, Nov. 6. “Home at J Street”, owned and operated by Gulfstream Goodwill, offers long-term supportive, affordable housing in four buildings for people who are transitioning out of homelessness. Residents go through the agency’s homeless programs, including the Senator Philip D. Lewis Center in West Palm Beach, before being housed in the new, transitional housing complex. “Accessibility to rapid rehousing is one of the most important steps to ending homelessness in our community and Gulfstream Goodwill is blazing that trail,” said Gulfstream Goodwill Industries President and CEO Marvin Tanck. The agency’s community partners for affordable housing, GL Homes, Serta and Holiday Inn West Palm Beach donated to the residence. GL Homes donated $20,000 towards furnishings and appliances; Serta donated 17 full-size mattresses, box springs and frames; and Holiday Inn West Palm Beach donated furniture from their hotel. Those who spoke at the grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting were Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce President Mary Lou Bedford, Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties President and CEO Bradley Hurlburt, Palm Beach County Division of Human Services Director Claudia Tuck, GL Homes Community Relations Director Sarah Alsofrom, Serta Key Customer Representative National Accounts Lynn Zorzi, Gulfstream Goodwill Industries Vice President of Program Services Kathy Spencer and Gulfstream Goodwill Industries President and CEO Marvin Tanck.
