Hospice Celebration of Life Community Event Honors Loved Ones Who Have Passed November 19, 2015 West Palm Beach, Florida — Hospice of Palm Beach County and Hospice by the Sea presented the Celebration of Life event, Sunday, November 15th at Seagate Country Club in Delray Beach, Florida. This was the first time Celebration of Life was open to everyone in the community who is grieving. More than 100 people gathered from Palm Beach and Broward counties to celebrate the lives of friends and family members. The program of healing and reflection included songs from hospice music therapists, opportunities to commemorate loved ones at remembrance stations and a special message from Dr. Faustino Gonzalez, MD, FACP, FAAHPM, Chief Medical Officer of Hospice Services, TrustBridge Health. Dr. Gonzalez commented, “At the end of my mother-in-law’s life, TrustBridge Health’s Hospice of Palm Beach County cared for our entire family with such love and compassion. While I have been a hospice physician for many years, I had only provided this care before, not received it. Our personal experience has brought new meaning to my work.” Dr. Gonzalez joined the other attendees at the ceremony in honoring loved ones at remembrance stations throughout the room. A remembrance wall displayed photos brought by the attendees. Special messages were written on origami cranes and hung on a decorative tree. Names were written on wood hearts and added to a shadow box to be displayed at the main bereavement center. Loved ones’ “words of wisdom” were written down to be shared in a keepsake “Life Imprints” album. The annual Celebration of Life is one of many free services TrustBridge Health offers to community members who are experiencing, or have experienced, loss.
