FAU to Celebrate Earth Day with a Series of Events BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 15, 2014) – Florida Atlantic University will celebrate Earth Day 2014 with a variety of events for students, faculty, and staff on Thursday April 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the FAU Breezeway, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. • A Green Market will include fresh produce, prepared foods, fresh herbs, plants and flowers, artisans, organic products and specialty items available for purchase. • FAU’s Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement (SAVI) and the Department of Housing and Residential Life will host a table for attendees to paint a pot and plant flower seeds. • Students, faculty, and staff will be quizzed on how well they are familiar with sustainability on campus and sustainability in general during “Green Trivia.” Each participant will receive a raffle ticket for prizes. • FAU Mission Green will promote a new University-wide ink cartridge recycling program, in which bins will be placed around campus to deposit ink cartridges. The group also will host a water bottle exchange, in which participants can turn in disposable water bottles and receive a reusable one. • FAU staff and students will be encouraged to take the FAU Green Pledge online. Prizes will be given out for those who make the pledge. • The Mission Green Student Association (MGSA) will demonstrate how to make organic cleaning solutions. All FAU Palm Tran and Tri-Rail commuters will be given a raffle ticket when stepping off the bus at FAU beginning at 8:15 a.m.. or while presenting their bus/train receipt at the Breezeway.
