Umberto's Of Long Island Pizza

I probably wouldn't have tried this place except we ended up staying in Deerfield for a week due to a pipe leak. I was pleasantly surprised by this pizza. I didn't really expect the pizza place near the water to be that good, because restaurants near the water don't have to be good because no matter what they're going to get business from vacationers. I ended up liking this pizza way more than a bunch of other pizza places I've tried in the area. I feel like a lot of pizza places lack flavor, but this place definitely doesn't. Their garlic knots were also great! The only issue is there isn't a ton of parking nearby that's free, so it's easiest to do delivery, unless you're in walking distance.

Absolute worst attitude from anyone whoever picks up the phone.

Pizza is 50/50 depending on what kind of mood they are in, in person and also on the phone wayyyyyy more cocky probably because it's from "NY" lol

Do less. Make better pizza and that chip on your shoulder. It isn't there.

Pizza was good. We got a Sicilian pie. Coming from NY, this place uses minimal toppings. We got half the pie pepperoni and other half meatball. There were 1 to 2 pepperonis per slice, as well as meatball. When we were sitting outside, another group next to us ordered a pie and as soon as they opened the pizza box.. same thing. They literally had 1 pepperoni for the whole pie they ordered. They all couldn't not take pics of it. Not sure if this is a common thing but for the price of their items you'd think they wouldn't skimp out.

Deerfield Beach FL.

It's funny how things happen. I get a new appliance installed and the man brings up NY and fondly remembers eating at Umberto's in Long Island. I'm a city boy , born and raised, and I to remember eating at Umberto's. Having said that, this location in Deerfield Beach, FL should be ashamed of themselves. Drove all the way down there from Palm Beach and I was so excited to be eating there.
First they don't have a bathroom. How do you run a restaurant and not have a bathroom. After an hour drive and parking I definitely needed a bathroom and it would be nice to able to wash your hands before and after you eat.
The two employees I dealt with ordering our pizza were about as friendly as a pet rock. Zero personality, zero interest in us as customers and zero interest in helping us pick out one of their overly expensive pies.
Sitting outside waiting for pizza to be served in a traditional pizza tin with a serving spatula, not here you don't. Here they bring it out in a box, nice and soggy. Extra soggy to be exact. Tried to fold the slice, impossible. It just collapses on itself. Seasonings ? How about an empty cheese bottle with dried out cheese stuck on the bottle that looks like it's been there since the depression era. One thin, no brand paper plate that couldn't even handle the soggy, sloppy mess they call pizza.
The only saving grace for this restaurant is they did not skimp on the toppings, but what good are toppings if you cant even pick a piece of pizza up and eat it without everything falling off onto the plate or table. God forbid you need a fork to help you. You had best be prepared to go next door to the Flanigans and hope they will give you one. While you're at Flanigans, you can use their bathroom to wash your hands.
I will never return to this so called pizza place and once again I say, shame on you Umberto's. You've managed to destroy the good name of a legendary pizza place.

Delicious pizza. Great crunch and crust. Like NY. I'd like to see Dave Portnoy stop by. I also suggest a bottle of wine and sunset on the beach

Tried these guys out for some pizza today but I believe I may need to go with these guys again for the Super Bowl but this time w/ the pepperoni.

My coworkers and I stopped in for lunch. We snagged a table out front before placing our order. We split a couple pizzas, garlic knots and a salad. All of the food was fresh and delicious.

I visited on June 17, 2022 and have gone a few times before. Mind you each time I just had a regular slice of pizza, so this review is based on that choice. How was it? It was okay, but nothing special. I can think of many other places that make finer pizza, such as Michaels and even Bob's Pizza right across the street. It just feels like they use the most run of the mill average ingredients to make a mediocre slice. It almost seems like they went to other pizza places and tried to copy their ingredients.
I am not knocking this place to much here. The servers were friendly, the price was fair, and the place was nice enough. There key takeaway is that when a better slice is available relatively close to this establishment, what is really the point of going here? The only answer I can see is convenience, but it is worth it to just cross the street and eat at Bob's Pizza.

Since the new owners have come in, this place has done a full 180, I'd say pretty confidently best pizza in Deerfield beach at the moment.

Best pizza in all of Deerfield, grandma slice is our favorite. Definitely my son's favorite and everybody that works through so nice just be aware they do sell ice cream next-door lol
