Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Art Contest Winners Honored by Florida Blue and the South Florida Fair BOCA RATON/BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (November 11, 2019) -- The top three winners of the Annual Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Art Contest from Palm Beach County’s high school, middle school and elementary school levels were recognized at the Florida Blue Boynton Beach Retail Center. Honorees and guests got the chance to hear from representatives of Florida Blue, the South Florida Fair, and Palm Beach County Arts Educators prior to receiving their individual awards. Food was provided by Chick-Fil-A along with beverages from Coca-Cola and Cheribundi. The bowl continues its partnership with the Palm Beach County School District offering the students the opportunity to showcase some of their finest artwork and experience the only NCAA Division I College Football bowl game played in Palm Beach County. Presented by Florida Blue and the South Florida Fair, the contest provides students with the opportunity to learn about football and the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle. Elementary Division Winners: • First Place: Lila Mackenzie, Grade 4, Beacon Cove Intermediate • Second Place: Victoria McDonald, Grade 5, Binks Forest Elementary • Third Place: Christian Princilus, Grade 5, Glade View Elementary Middle School Division Winners: • First Place: Camila Castro, Grade 8, Omni Middle School • Second Place: Lily Ames, Grade 7, Woodlands Middle School • Third Place: Mayra Perez, Grade 8, Woodlands Middle School High School Division Winners: • First Place: Katerin Leyva Rodriguez, Grade 12, John I Leonard High School • Second Place: Valerie Gonzales, Grade 11, Spanish River High School • Third Place: Jamarii Coleman, Grade 11, Wellington High School All winning students were awarded with a four pack of tickets to the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 21, and a complimentary ticket to the 2020 South Florida Fair. Additionally, the overall first place winner from each level will receive a Mega-Saver to the 2020 South Florida Fair and all winners will be honored during the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Head Coaches Press Conference and on the field on game day. First place students also garnered a $500 donation, courtesy of Florida Blue, that will be given to their respective school’s art program. About the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl: 2019 Game Moves to New Day, Time and Network After spending five years on the Tuesday evening before Christmas and being aired on ESPN, the 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl will kick off in the Florida sunshine on Saturday afternoon, December 21 at 3:30 p.m. ET at FAU Stadium and will broadcast nationally on ABC as well as on ESPN Radio and locally on ESPN 106.3 FM. The bowl game has conference tie-ins with teams from Conference USA, the American Athletic Conference and the Mid-American Athletic Conference. As one of 41 postseason college bowl games in the country and one of 15 owned and operated by ESPN Events (a division of ESPN) the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl is the only one hosted in Palm Beach County. As a celebrated annual holiday tradition in Boca Raton and Palm Beach County that lives up to its other name, ‘Boca’s Biggest Annual Outdoor Party’, the event features all the pomp and circumstance of traditional bowl events. It is a high-energy, entertaining experience for both college football fans and non-fans alike and allows the national spotlight to shine on Boca Raton and Palm Beach County. Bowl week activities will begin on Tuesday, December 17 with the arrival of the participating teams; days, times and sites for the team welcome parties, beach parties, luncheon, pep rallies and other bowl week activities will be released at a later date.
