Ceremony & Reception Set for November 20th at The Addison BOCA RATON, FL (October 21, 2024) – The Boca Raton Historical Society proudly announces the 2024 Walk of Recognition honorees, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community and enriched the lives of Boca Raton’s citizens. The Walk of Recognition also commemorates deceased honorees with a place on the Wall of Honor for their lasting impact on Boca Raton. “The Walk of Recognition continues to honor those who have selflessly contributed to making Boca Raton a better place,” said Mary Csar, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Historical Society. “This year’s honorees exemplify the spirit of service and dedication that strengthens our community.” The 2024 Walk of Recognition inductees include: Cynthia Krebsbach – Cynthia has developed a legacy of service to local non-profits, organizations and foundations with a drive toward making a marked difference in our community. She is a past-president and member of the Junior League of Boca Raton. She chaired the League’s Savor the Moment cookbook project, which raised more than $250,000 for community projects. Cynthia was a co-founder of Impact 100 Palm Beach County; she is a registered nurse and serves on the Christine Lynn College of Nursing Advisory Board; and she is a board member of Impact 100 Palm Beach County, and Impact 100 Global. Lisa Mulhall – Lisa has been a driving force behind several community initiatives and has played a key role in supporting local nonprofits through her expertise in grant writing. She led the grant writing and fundraising efforts for the Junior League project, In the Pines, Inc., a housing development for local migrant families. She is a co-founder and board member of Impact 100 Palm Beach County, a past board member of the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties, past president of the Junior League of Boca Raton, and continues to work on the Junior League of Boca Raton Endowment Fund, Inc. Toby and Leon Cooperman – Toby and Leon Cooperman’s philanthropic efforts have created a profound and lasting impact on our community. By supporting vital institutions, such as Boca Raton Regional Hospital, they have enhanced healthcare services and ensured that residents have access to state-of-the-art medical facilities and specialized care. The Coopermans’ interest and involvement in providing services for local families with special needs is evident in their support for the Therapy and Family Resource Center at Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services. They have also invested in education and the arts, fostering cultural enrichment and opportunities for growth and learning. Through their generosity, Toby and Leon Cooperman inspire others to give back, creating a ripple effect that encourages additional support for local initiatives. Lora "Skeets" Friedkin (Posthumous) - Known for her warmth, kindness, and dedication, Skeets was a beloved advocate for people with disabilities. Her passion for helping others was inspired by her son Shawn, who was paralyzed in a 1992 car accident. Skeets played a vital role in launching Stand Among Friends, a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities, raising over $300,000 in its early days. As a Board member for the Americans with Disabilities Foundation and volunteer for the Boating and Beach Bash for People with Disabilities, her compassion and energy were unmatched. Skeets’ legacy of philanthropy, joy, and advocacy will continue to inspire and impact the community she served so tirelessly.
