BOCA RATON HISTORICAL SOCIETY HOSTS VIP RECEPTION TO CELEBRATE THE OPENING OF MAJOR EXHIBITION Boca Raton 1925-2025: Addison Mizner’s Legacy Now Open BOCA RATON, FL (November 19, 2024) – The Boca Raton Historical Society welcomed distinguished guests, community leaders, and supporters to an exclusive VIP reception last week at The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum to celebrate the opening of Boca Raton 1925-2025: Addison Mizner’s Legacy. This highly anticipated exhibition, now open to the public through May 30, 2025, marks the city’s centennial by highlighting the visionary work of Addison Mizner and his profound influence on Boca Raton’s transformation into a world-renowned destination. Guests at the reception enjoyed a first look at the multimedia showcase, which features rare artifacts, photographs, maps, and immersive displays, including architectural pieces from Mizner Industries and other historical treasures. “Last week’s reception was a wonderful way to launch this milestone exhibition,” said Mary Csar, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Historical Society. “As we celebrate Boca Raton’s centennial, this exhibit offers an inspiring look at the past 100 years while setting the stage for an even brighter future.” The centerpiece of the exhibit spotlights Mizner’s iconic Cloister Inn, which evolved into The Boca Raton, a premier luxury resort. It also explores the enduring impact of Mizner’s architectural style on local neighborhoods, from Old Floresta to the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. Curated by Augustus Mayhew, a renowned cultural historian, the exhibit brings Mizner’s legacy to life with contributions from the Frederick Herpel Collection and other notable institutions. The VIP reception was made possible with support from exhibit sponsors, including The Boca Raton, Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, Discover the Palm Beaches, and Palm Beach County. Guests mingled while enjoying refreshments and previewing the exhibit that will captivate visitors throughout the centennial celebrations.
